Students are required to source a patient case study relevant to their own area of Advanced Nursing/ midwifery practice, for a person who requires pharmacological treatment intervention(s), and discuss this in relation to the Prescribing Competencies Framework. Students are asked to:
– Identify additional medication history, clinical investigations and other pharmacotherapeutic factors that would inform prescribing choices.
– Identify the legal and PBS requirements for generating a prescription for their chosen drug(s), including any specific criteria that the person needs to meet before prescribing.
Detail information provided to the person about the medication(s) prescribed, and formulate a review plan.
