She may be delighted to be pregnant but many times young mothers feel scared and can sometimes get stuck in denial and take a long time to process and connect with their baby. I would also want to assess her support network. Does this mother have the support that she needs? If she does not, it is important that I provide her with resources. Another thing I would ask her about is her nutrition. Does she understand what good nutrition in pregnancy is and does she have the resources to nourish herself that way?
