Students will work in small groups allocated from within individual tutorials groups to develop a presentation to be submitted by the end of Week 9. This assessment is intended to support the development of an effective team and preparation of the presentation. Each group will assume the role of consultant social and community psychologists who have been invited to work on a project regarding bullying behaviour being observed among culturally diverse students on a college Facebook group, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders students. The College believes that this reflects discrimination and prejudice. Within this consultation role, your team has been asked to provide information and recommendations about how to manage this, based on on Stereotyping.
Specifically, your role is to advise your client about the way in which the chosen group dynamic may influence the behaviour of students on the Facebook group, and how knowledge of social and community psychology may inform a solution to the behaviour being observed. You are to assume that the people you are presenting to have no psychological background, meaning that you should use relatable, lay language.
