Adolescence is a critical developmental period, in which we are extremely sensitive to stress, social support, and/or social rejection. In this written assignment, you will choose a topic with which an adolescent might present in counseling. Topics may include but are not limited to: depression, substance use/abuse, parental divorce, self-harm, eating disorders, abusive relationships, etc. Provide a thorough exploration of the following topics: How would the individual’s cognitive development, moral development, and social development impact the experience of the selected issue? How might peer relationships help and hinder the adolescent who is struggling with this issue? What counseling modality, interventions and/or techniques have been shown to be effective for counseling adolescents struggling with this issue?
