APA should be used throughout. As indicated by the APA Stylebook, the paper must contain a title page and end in a âReferencesâ section. At least six peer-reviewed articles in addition to other scholarly works (evaluation reports and/or book chapters) must be referenced. IMPORTANT NOTE: Please use this format and include the following main headings when preparing your paper (do not include small letters (a, b, c, d, etc.) when addressing required content). All of these areas should be addressed in the order indicated below. Evaluation Target a. Identify the client system b. Provide a briefcase history that puts the behavior or attitude in a psychosocial or ecological context, including the agency setting. c. Describe the client need or problem d. Operationally define the targeted behavior or attitude, and objectify the expected change e. Describe the goal of the intervention and method(s) of intervention f. Identify any ethical or cultural issues and how these will be addressed Literature Review a. Summarize the literature that examines the problem area in the identified client system b. From relevant literature (theoretical and practice), provide a conceptual definition of the dependent variable (outcome variable) (e.g., self-esteem, depression). c. Discuss your intervention and justify your choice using scholarly literature. Specifically describe the treatment package identified by theoretical framework (e.g. cognitive, behavioral, crisis intervention). Directly apply evidence-based practice concepts. d. State the specific research question you are addressing and the hypothesis you are testing. Methodology Design a. Explain your design (AB, ABAB, ABC) and justify its adequacy/appropriateness. b. Explain how many observations you made for each phase of the design and why. NOTE: your baseline phase should have a minimum of 5 (maximum of 10) time points. Your intervention should have a minimum of 7 time points. If you cannot satisfy these requirements for any reason, justify it. Procedure a. Describe intervention implementation. Be specific but brief. b. Identify the baseline phase (A) and the intervention phase (B) and provide a rationale for them. c. Fidelity of implementation: Describe how you monitored (or measured) the intervention (i.e., how would you know whether the client actually received the intervention as intended?) Measures a. Provide an operational definition for the dependent (outcome) variable. Be specific! b. Describe the tools that you are using to measure the targets. These may include behavioral observations, individualized rating scales, standardized questionnaires, or client logs. a. If you used observational measures, how you quantified the indicators (frequency, duration, or magnitude). Discuss reliability and validity of the measures. b. If you used a standardized measure, describe and justify its use and discuss the reliability and validity of the measure. Data Analysis and Results a. Present a graph for the single system measures b. Visually analyze the graph and describe your conclusions in narrative form. What does the data mean? c. Calculate mean scores for each phase and discuss the level of change for your client. Discuss threats to the internal and external validity of your design as well as its’ reliability. How well were you able to infer causality? Discussion a. Summarize the overall results: What do they mean? Any alternate explanation? b. Discuss the strengths and limitations of this study c. Discuss potential implications for practice.
